Meet The Staff

Edwin Mutai, Executive Director

Edwin is another one of our native Kenyan staff!  We met Edwin through University Community Fellowship in Kampala where he was serving as a volunteer and specifically loved working with children.  His love for children oozes out every pore of his body!  Eventually, Edwin realized God had specifically called him to work in children’s ministry and came on staff with TTW Uganda in June 2009 to fill such a role.

Edwin and his wife Angella worked at St. Mary Kevin Orphanage (Kampala) on behalf of Touch The World Uganda for over one year, assisting with regular counseling and discipleship of students, as well as organizing music classes and other activities.  In many ways, Edwin acted as a key role-model and parent figure in the lives of many of the orphans there.

Seeing the enormous potential in this young couple, DCU sent Edwin and Angella to train at New Hope Institute for Family Care in 2010.  After graduation from the five-month course, they moved to Adak to begin their ministry to the Dream Center community.  Focusing specifically on children’s ministry, Edwin and Angella cannot help but build relationships and share the love with God with whoever they meet.  At home, Edwin enjoys music and reading and Angella is always busy with her hands in a craft project of knitting or beads.  They have three daughters, Edna (4), Esther Eva (2), and Eliana (1).

Jesse & Andrea Kroeze, Former Country Director

Jesse and Andrea have similar stories:  They both grew up in Christian families and were involved early on in short-term missions, traveling the world from their high school days.  After graduating from Muhlenberg College (Allentown, PA) with a degree in psychology and business, Andrea took up a full-time position in 2004 at Touch The World in New Jersey as Director of Short Term Missions.  Meanwhile, Jesse took off for Central America after his graduation from Taylor University (Upland, IN) to “find himself” and learn the Spanish language. After a year or so in Costa Rica and Nicaragua, Jesse moved back to his home in Blairstown, NJ to find a way to apply his business degree with his passion for missions and landed a job as a coffee house manager with Touch The World.  This is where their paths crossed and just a few months later they were married in September 2006.

A year or so into marriage, they were both feeling a little restless and began praying about what the next big step was in their lives together.  They led a group of college students on a mission trip to Uganda in March 2008 and were both wrecked by their first exposure to Africa.  It was through their brokenness that God revealed he wanted to use them to for something more in Uganda.  Just a few months later, in October 2008, they packed their bags and made the big move to oversee the ministry of Touch The World in Uganda.

As Country Director, Jesse casts the vision for the ministry and oversees the other Directors and staff members.  Together they work on networking with supporters and communicating the stories of life transformation to the other side of the world.  They have a particular passion for seeing young people dedicate their entire lives to a Kingdom mindset through career missions.  They are both avid readers, enjoy cooking, and love having fun with their children Paulina, Kayleigh and Noah.

Jesse & Andrea left Uganda in body in July 2013 but not in spirit!  Jesse now serves as Executive Director of Touch The World in the US-headquarters and oversees the short-term missions programs as well as Global Initiatives in Cuba, Mexico and Uganda.
