Our Approach

DCU is dedicated to restoring lives through the transformation of individuals and communities.  Our core philosophy of transformational development reaches all ministry participants holistically, meeting both physical and spiritual needs. When we meet a physical need, we can’t help but to share the love of Christ with that person; when we share salvation with someone, the only answer is to be a living example of Jesus by meeting their physical needs.

In this process of transformational development, God is reconciling people’s spiritual condition to make them right before God, through us, his people.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” (2 Cor. 5:17-19)

The goal is changed people who have discovered their true identity as children of God and who have recovered their true purpose as faithful and productive stewards of gifts from God for the well-being of all.

Transformation is witnessed through the embrace of the following core values:

  1. Character:  Reflecting the Image of God
  2. Empowerment:  Confidently Embracing the Freedom of a New Identity
  3. Service:  Attitude and Action of Helping Others
  4. Abundance:  Reality and Mentality that ‘There is Enough’
